The Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County introduced the Skills USA program through the support of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. The Members learn about core customer service skills, communication skills, workplace etiquette and professionalism, problem solving skills, time management, and sales and customer retention through fun and interactive on-line modules.

The Entrepreneurship Tank (ET) Program was created to give Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County teen Members the opportunity to learn how to plan and build a business. Classes were each led by a BGCBC corporate board member: Todd Paton, President of Paton Marketing; Linda Buccilli, Growth and Development Director for Northwestern Mutual; and Michael Rodriguez, Vice President of New Projects for JAE Restaurant Group.

Teens Experience Adulthood During Reality Store Event

More than 100 BGCBC teens participating in the SkillsUSA, MoneyMatters and CareerLaunch programs, part of BGCBC's Workforce Development Initiative, prepared for real world experiences during the Reality Store event. Reality Store provides an interactive experience in which youth learn how the choices they make regarding career, managing income and expenses, and saving and investing will affect future outcomes.

72 BGCBC Families Complete Family Strengthening Program

With a grant from the Children’s Services Council, this is BGCBC’s second year of successfully implementing the FSP in our Clubs. To date, we served 72 families at the following Clubs: Levine/Slaughter, Lauderhill, Nan Knox, Rick & Rita Case, Marti Huizenga and Carver Ranches.

Youth Learn Football Fundamentals From The Pros!

Channing Crowder and the Miami Dolphins brought the fun to the NFL YET Lester H White Boys & Girls Club for over 75 members on June 3rd, 2017 for the 4th Annual Channing Crowder Youth Football Camp! Channing Crowder, former Miami Dolphin linebacker, began the camp in 2014 and with annual grants provided by the NFL Foundation, the camp gives back to the Clubs and teaches members the importance of applying passion and discipline to sports, academics, and a healthy lifestyle.

Youth Learn Football Fundamentals From The Pros!

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County has taken great strides in strengthening the workforce readiness and development program for teens attending our Clubs. JAE Restaurant Group, the organization that owns over 170 Wendy’s Restaurants across the state of Florida and the United States has partnered with BGCBC to develop relationships with teens to help our young people gain essential customer service and professional development skills as well as connect them to jobs.
