Teacher For CSC Summer Program Or Y.E.S. Program (School Year)

Must have a Teacher's Certificate and emergency First Aid & CPR Certificate. Must have the ability to teach in an informal environment.

  • Stimulate interest and participation for members in reading/math/nutrition/fitness.

CATCH Nutrition & Fitness Trainer

Reports to  Director of Program Development 

General function:

The CATCH Nutrition & Fitness Trainer is directly responsible for educating youth on good eating habits and the importance of physical activities.  His/her area of responsibility is centered on the implementation of CATCH (Coordinated Approach to Child Health) Curriculum. 

Know how:

Program management:

  • Ability to interpret goals and objectives of BGCBC. 
  • Possess knowledge of child development stages in relationship to age appropriate behaviors and programming. 
  • Ability to interpret and deliver CATCH, for Grades 1-8. 
  • Ability to stimulate interest and participation for members in CATCH, for 
  • Grades 1-8. 

Pre/Post members to assess program outcomes using CATCH modules.

  • Develop a positive atmosphere among members toward achieving long term good character and leadership behaviors as an alternate to unhealthy behaviors and choices. 
  • Ability to work with Program Staff to secure program materials, rewards and recognition systems. 
  • Maintain discipline and adherence to BGCBC rules. 
  • Mobilize members to participate in BGCBC programs. 
  • Ability to address and de-escalate crisis as they arise within the immediate environment. 
  • Ability to document and coordinate progress for program participants. 
  • Other duties as assigned by BGCBC. 

Education/experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science and/or Nutrition.
  • Must have a current First Aide and CPR certificate. 
  • Must have a valid Florida License. 
Education Director-Teacher/Instructor STEM

Responsible to:
Director of Program Development & Unit Director

General function:
Teacher for the STEM Program

Know how:
Must have a relevant associates degree or bachelor degree in science/engineering/technology. Must have a background in teaching robotics to tweens, ages 10-14 who are enrolled in Title I Schools. Must have the ability to teach in an informal environment.

  • Stimulate interest and participation for members in science and technology
  • Maintain classroom management and classroom materials.
  • Prepare lesson plans, reward systems and parental contacts.

  • Provide hands-on, experiential learning though building robots using the Lego Curriculum and Robot Kits.

Social Recreation Coordinator

The primary function of the Social Recreation Coordinator is to assist the Director and Program Manager in planning and facilitating the programs of the assigned club.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Requirements Include:

  • Plan, publicize, organize, and conduct recreational activities, tournaments, games, leagues, and special events
  • Responsible for preparing written plans for program activities including goals, mechanics, needs, and cost projections
  • Supervise and motivate staff and volunteers in your department
  • Counsel and discipline members in accordance with BGCBC policy and procedures
  • Assume management of facility in the absence of Unit Director or Program Manager
  • Maintain accurate program records and make sure monthly statistical records are given to supervisor
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of new programs
  • Maintain Bulletin Board for areas responsible for and posting general health and hygiene related information.
  • Assist in special projects as need arises (i.e. fundraising, Day Camp, and other organizational Special Events)
  • Assist and facilitate training of Unit staff
  • Recommend and requisition supplies for areas of responsibility
  • Compose periodic reports to Unit Director
  • Develop a new member orientation program on a monthly and provide continuous contact with parents and local schools
  • Organize and conduct scheduled skill clinics for members and club staff
  • Assume responsibility for various contracted programs
  • Assist with other Boys & Girls Clubs activities/special events if requested to do so

Qualifying Requirements:

  • Must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in child psychology or related field
  • Minimum of one year experience working with children in a full time position.
  • Ability to interact with diverse personalities, in a non-emotional, non-confrontational manner
  • Display tact, maturity.
Health & PE Coordinator

The primary function of the Health & PE Coordinator is to assist the Director and Program Manager in planning and facilitating the programs of the assigned Club.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Requirements Include:

  • Play, publicize, organize, and conduct activities, tournaments, special events, etc.

P.E. Assistant

Must possess the ability to plan, organize, implement and supervise athletic programs for members ages 6-18. Need to be energetic, enthusiastic & creative. Must have general knowledge all sports and be able to officiate sports activities (i.e. flag football, basketball, soccer, etc). Applicant must be at least 21 years of age. Part time , M-F, 2:15pm-7:30pm. Rotating Saturdays 11am-3pm. $10 P/H. Must pass our pre-employment screening and possess a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.

Fitness Instructor

Must possess the ability to plan, organize, implement and supervise fitness/weight training programs for Teens ages 13-18.  Must be certified in personal fitness/weight training and have some experience in working with youth. Applicant must be at least 21 years of age. Part time , M-F, 3:30pm-6:30pm. Must pass our pre-employment screening. 

Education Instructor

Must possess the ability to plan, implement and facilitate educational program for members ages 6-18. Must assist with homework in various subjects. Encourage members’ development of basic skills in computer knowledge. Must conduct computer classes that teach basic computer skills.  Responsibilities also include recruitment for the class and maintaining accurate records of all programs. High energy level, comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities. BA degree in Education is preferred but not required. Part time, M-F 2:30pm-6:30pm. Must pass our pre-employment screening.

Membership Clerk

GENERAL FUNCTION:  Responsible for the overall functioning of the Front Desk including handling memberships, answering phones, daily attendance through KidTrax, directing visitors and general supervision.

KNOW HOW:  Must be able to maintain accurate records and enforce Boys & Girls Club rules and policies in a fair and equitable manner.  Must have proper phone etiquette, excellent customer service skills and possess the ability to multitask.

DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Record daily attendance through KidTrax, this includes manual scans and enforcing that all Club members need their scannable Club cards.
  • Transmit KidTrax information nightly to ensure proper maintenance of membership statistics.
  • Reception and registration of all new memberships (receiving application and payment with photograph and birth certificate as needed, giving parent receipt and temporary Club card, enter in membership book, entering data in KidTrax, taking photograph, issuing KidTrax card, create/update emergency card, file).
  • Answer the telephone, take messages and provide a good public image for all who call.
  • Greet all visitors to the Club and direct them accordingly.  Ensure all visitors have a visitor pass and keep the visitor log up to date.
  • Control the entrance to the building both inside and out.
  • Act as the information center for questions about the Club.  This includes marketing the programs to both members and parents as well as distributing flyers to parents as needed.
  • Enforce Club rules and policies to members, parents and guests.
  • Ensure bulletin boards and signage on front door is neat and up to date.
  • Organize parent information table and ensure information is not outdated.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness at the front desk.
  • Must be Bilingual (Spanish)
  • Part-time, M-F, 2:30pm-7:30pm, Non School days 9am-5pm. $10.00 p/h.
