LIFEGUARD (at Levine/Slaugter & Carver Ranches Clubs)

Now seeking Red Cross/ American Heart certified lifeguards for swim instructors to run a safe and fun swimming program that teaches children to swim, and to assist with pre-post tests and skills teaching.

Possible part time hours will be available this spring, and up to 40 hrs a week available in the summer time.

You MUST be available between the hours of 9am and 5pm this summer. Must have current lifeguard certification, current CPR/AED training and First Aid.  WSI certification preferred.

Effective communication skills, superior interpersonal abilities including the ability to get along with diverse personalities, and display tact, maturity, and flexibility are needed for this position. Experience working with children, good reasoning abilities and sound judgment are also needed. Swim Central experience a plus. Must have own transportation.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure safety of all swimmers and assist in classes and other activities conducted in the swimming pool.
  • Enforce all pool rules, assist with swimming classes and tests, assume responsibility in absence of Aquatics Program Supervisor; help organize games and special events in pool.
  • Observe all safety precautions at all times, including ensuring that boys and girls shower and are clean before swimming.
  • A safe and fun swimming program that teaches all non-swimmers how to swim.

CULINARY PROGRAM MANAGER

Culinary Program Manager is needed to run a hands-on program teaching teen members in the area of safe and effective food preparation, proper food safety and sanitation standards. Culinary Program Manager will coordinate the work of the Culinary Aide(s), volunteers and participating Boys & Girls Club members while overseeing the entire Culinary Program. Responsibilities include preparing and executing food preparation for various Corporate Board Meeting activities, participating in various events, including “The Future Tastes Great” fundraising event, “Concours de Elegance” and others.

Must have working knowledge of commercial kitchens, the ability to develop and execute programs, and the knowledge base and demonstrated skills to instruct others.

Must have ability to: Tailor instructions and lessons to meet the age group of members; Have patience working with children; Effectively teach members and inspire interest in program area; Consistently follow universal precautions and safe work practices, including knowledge of first aid techniques, and proper use of fire safety equipment/extinguisher.

Qualifications/requirements:

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with major concentration in food preparation, management, nutrition or related field and working knowledge of culinary services, including food preparation and the food service industry.

Position also requires:

  • CPR/First Aid training and maintain current certification.
  • Certification as ServSafe Instructor/Proctor able to instruct, and certify members who complete ServSafe training.
  • Training in universal precautions and safe work practices including fire safety and proper use of fire extinguisher.
  • Maintain a safe driving record.
  • Ability to formulate proposals, needs lists, and prepares accurate cost projections.
  • Possess knowledge of development stages in youth and plan programs accordingly.
  • High level of energy, endurance and patience is required.
  • Comfortable working with different personalities in a confined and informal environment.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to display a positive attitude and professional demeanor at all times

Job segments:

  1. Stimulate interest and participation of members in areas related to the culinary program. Mobilize members to attend or participate in programs, including fundraisers and Club events.
  2. Maintain kitchen, classroom and materials, keeping work area neat and clean at all times; clean and maintain equipment used in food preparation.
  3. Purchase culinary food & supplies, within approved budget on a monthly basis.
  4. Complete food temperature checks before service.
  5. Prepare for classroom time, by doing or delegating prep work and clean up following lesson.
  6. Participate in BGCBC events increasing awareness of the Culinary Program to the community and donors.
  7. Prepare and serve food for special functions as assigned.
  8. Drive company vehicles on tours of restaurants, colleges, fundraisers and Club events.
  9. Assist in fundraising activities including setup, event supervision and breakdown.
  10. Assist members in obtaining ServSafe certification in safe food preparation.
  11. Maintain discipline and adherence to BGC rules.
  12. Develop a positive atmosphere among the members toward achieving long term academic and social goals.
  13. Collect and tabulate data as needed, including names of participating members.
  14. Supervise assigned staff, including time and attendance records, evaluations, disciplinary action and other administrative duties.
  15. Must maintain skills necessary to safely and efficiently operate the equipment and machines used in performance of the role.
  16. Work weekends as needed.
  17. Other duties as assigned

Physical and mental requirements:

Physical requirements include ability to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 50 pounds or less; manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures. Manage multiple tasks with varying deadlines.

Environmental and working conditions:

The majority of work will be conducted in a commercial kitchen/classroom/office setting; however, major blocks of time will be away from the office and at event venues. Various off-site events and meetings will occur at respective Boys & Girls Clubs or Volunteer offices or event venue.

YOUTH AIDE - PE
Must possess the ability to plan, organize, implement and supervise athletic programs for members ages 6-18. Need to be energetic, enthusiastic & creative. Must have general knowledge of all sports and be able to officiate sports activities (i.e. flag football, basketball, soccer, etc). Applicant must be at least 21 years of age. Part time , M-F, 2:15pm-7:30pm. Rotating Saturdays 11am-3pm. Must pass our pre-employment screening.


GAMEROOM SUPERVISOR
Must possess the ability to plan, organize, implement and recreational programs for teems ages 13-18. Need to be energetic, enthusiastic & creative. Must be a positive mentor and of good moral character. Part time , M-F, 3:00pm-8:00pm. Rotating Saturdays 11am-3pm. Must pass our pre-employment screening.
