Chief Development Officer

Chief Development Officer needed to be the senior level development professional responsible to lead a successful Major Gifts & Planned Giving program; responsible for planning, developing, and growing the comprehensive fundraising program for securing financial support from individuals, foundations, and corporations. Identifies, cultivates and successfully solicits gifts from individuals (generally five/six-figure gifts).

KEY ROLES include:

  • Actively engage donors and prospects at all events, cultivating and enhancing those relationships and the value of their leadership & planned gifts to Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County’s long-term mission and goals.
  • Schedule and conduct regular face-to-face visits, minimum of 15 donor relationship tours per month, with current and potential leadership & planned gift donors and prospects. Focus on high potential “repeat event participants” to develop current and deferred planned gifts.
  • Meet weekly with Executive Vice President and Director of Corporate Events.
  • Provide consistent follow-up post event to secure commitments or move relationship forward to produce 20 leads from each event, with “touch points” that they made at each event.
  • Engage newly engaged participants at events and renew existing relationships
  • With assistance from Events staff, consistently document key conversations with donors and other pertinent information into the prospect management database, currently Raiser’s Edge.
  • Retain and cultivate a personal portfolio of planned giving prospects and donors to steward their current and long term relationships with Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County.
  • Utilize staff and volunteer resources to enhance philanthropic gift opportunities and increase donor engagement and recognition opportunities.
  • Provide strategic leadership to organization
  • Work with Club Directors and staff to gain full understanding of our various club programs, mission and goals in order to provide customized investment options for donors.
  • Represent the view of our individual donors as our strategic plan continues to develop
  • Manage major gifts and planned giving program including:
  • Cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of existing major and planned giving donors
  • Identification and solicitation of new major gifts, endowment gifts and planned gifts for BGCBC
  • Growth of endowment fund
  • Manage Legacy Society major donor program to include:
  • Cultivate, solicit and steward existing Legacy Society donors and prospective donors
  • Management of Legacy Society Co-Chairs and Cabinet
  • Ensure partnership with Corporate Volunteer Board for penetration of workplace firms/corporations with Legacy Society engagement opportunities
  • Manage Legacy Society donor stewardship processes and activities to include:
  • Pledge and designation processing
  • Acknowledgments, robust thank you program and Charitable Gift Summary reports
  • Personal contact and personal meeting
  • Partner with marketing to develop all communications, including solicitations, newsletters and correspondences for Legacy Society donors and planned giving donors
  • Partner with Volunteer Corporate Board and staff to create, execute and oversee volunteer engagement plans for Legacy Society members that further the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Participates in management team to implement priorities and goals as established in the Portfolio Management Work Plan.
  2. Works effectively with the President/CEO to meet or exceed the metrics set forth in the Portfolio Management Work Plan and Major Gifts Officer agreement.
  3. Reports to the President/CEO for direction and supervision in meeting the metrics and deliverables associated with donor portfolio management.
  4. Accountable to the President/CEO for meeting the professional standards of the BGCBC.  Works collaboratively and strategically with the club staff, the President/CEO, EVP and other BGCBC staff and volunteer leaders.
  5. Understands that failure to meet metrics set forth in Portfolio Management Work Plan for three consecutive months or two of four consecutive months is grounds for dismissal.
  6. Secures financial support from individuals, foundations and corporations.
  7. Develops and maintains ongoing relationships with major donors through moves management.
  8. Conducts fundraising to support BGCBC services.
  9. Supports the maximum utilization of volunteers and provides appropriate training.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in fundraising or community outreach / sales in a corporate environment with at least (5) years at a senior level of management, CFRE preferred
  • At least 2 years’ experience working with top volunteers and cultivating and successfully soliciting potential donors
  • Successful track record of non-profit fund development and/or for profit sales and sales management
  • Administrative and supervisory experience working with volunteers and staff supervision a must.
  • Computer proficiency required in customer relationship management systems, Microsoft Office software programs, and electronic giving and information exchange.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge (or similar fundraising database) and prospect research skills strongly preferred.
  • Work experience in a nonprofit environment and knowledge of Boys & Girls Clubs Operations preferred.
  • Adaptable to a variety of social settings, with knowledge and tolerance of diverse communities and ideas
  • Experience including identification, cultivation and solicitation of five/six-figure gifts from individuals
  • Excellent writing, organizational, interpersonal skills
  • Local travel required, along with flexibility in work hours

Social Recreation Coordinator

The primary function of the Social Recreation Coordinator is to assist the Director and Program Manager in planning and facilitating the programs of the assigned club.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Requirements Include:

  • Plan, publicize, organize, and conduct recreational activities, tournaments, games, leagues, and special events
  • Responsible for preparing written plans for program activities including goals, mechanics, needs, and cost projections
  • Supervise and motivate staff and volunteers in your department
  • Counsel and discipline members in accordance with BGCBC policy and procedures
  • Assume management of facility in the absence of Unit Director or Program Manager
  • Maintain accurate program records and make sure monthly statistical records are given to supervisor
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of new programs
  • Maintain Bulletin Board for areas responsible for and posting general health and hygiene related information.
  • Assist in special projects as need arises (i.e. fundraising, Day Camp, and other organizational Special Events)
  • Assist and facilitate training of Unit staff
  • Recommend and requisition supplies for areas of responsibility
  • Compose periodic reports to Unit Director
  • Develop a new member orientation program on a monthly and provide continuous contact with parents and local schools
  • Organize and conduct scheduled skill clinics for members and club staff
  • Assume responsibility for various contracted programs
  • Assist with other Boys & Girls Clubs activities/special events if requested to do so

Qualifying Requirements:

  • Must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in sports education or related field
  • Minimum one year experience working with children in a full time position
  • Ability to interact with diverse personalities, in a non-emotional, non-confrontational manner
  • Display tact, maturity, and flexibility at all times
  • Must have and maintain a safe driving record

Health & PE Coordinator

The primary function of the Health & PE Coordinator is to assist the Director and Program Manager in planning and facilitating the programs of the assigned Club.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Requirements Include:

  • Play, publicize, organize, and conduct activities, tournaments, special events, etc.

  • Assume responsibility for Group Club if so assigned

P.E. Assistant

Must possess the ability to plan, organize, implement and supervise athletic programs for members ages 6-18. Need to be energetic, enthusiastic & creative. Must have general knowledge all sports and be able to officiate sports activities (i.e. flag football, basketball, soccer, etc). Applicant must be at least 21 years of age. Part time , M-F, 2:15pm-7:30pm. Rotating Saturdays 11am-3pm.  Must pass our pre-employment screening and possess a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.

Fitness Instructor

Must possess the ability to plan, organize, implement and supervise fitness/weight training programs for Teens ages 13-18.  Must be certified in personal fitness/weight training and have some experience in working with youth. Applicant must be at least 21 years of age. Part time , M-F, 3:30pm-6:30pm. Must pass our pre-employment screening.
