The 5th Annual Future Tastes Great Culinary Competition benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County was a major success having raised $80,000 for the Culinary Arts Department! 250 guests tasted some of the best cuisine in South Florida created by some of the finest chefs in the area including: Chef Franco Filippone (Sette Bello Restaurant); Chef Jeff Vincent (Atlantic Hotel & Spa) ; Chef Marco Vico (Café Vico); Chef Elliot Menke (The Royal Pig); Chef Victor Franco (Oceans 234) and our very own Chef Teresa Ruiz along with the Culinary Arts students. Congratulations to the winners of the culinary competition: Chef Teresa and the culinary arts student! The guests also enjoyed silent and live auction along with live music from local guitarist Michael Corbin.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward honored for serving suppers to low-income children

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County will be honored this week as the first group in Florida to offer suppers in a new after-school program for low-income children. It signed up after a bipartisan group in Congress voted in 2010 to offer the meals to millions of American kids lacking proper nutrition.

Named a recipient of the coveted 4-star rating from Charity Navigator for the third consecutive year on September 1, 2013, BGCBC was also honored by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the Florida Area Council as having the Best Overall Program for its Healthy Snack & Meal program. Of the 900,000 youth in South Florida that are impacted by hunger insecurity, the BGCBC program has served more than 1.3 million snacks and meals in the last two years and continues to grow daily.
