75,000 MORE MEALS FOR FAMILIES IN BROWARD!

On February 25, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County, funded by the Walmart Foundation and in partnership with Feeding South Florida and Meals of Hope, held a volunteer event that assembled meals for families in need throughout Broward County. Part of the Defeating Food Insecurity Program, the Meal Packing Event supplies our 12 Clubs with meal packs to provide to parents throughout the week that supplement their grocery budget and help feed all household members.  This year, 220 volunteers packed over 75,000 meal packs consisting of fortified beans and rice and cinnamon apple oatmeal.

Meal packing events are one example of how our volunteers are helping to make a difference in the lives of our 12,500 annual members. Packaged meals supplement other BGCBC programs that provide our members’ with nutritious snacks and meals when youth are not in school.

We would like to thank the following individuals and groups who came out to support us on this special day: Board Member Peter Woolf, Michele Leung, Team National, Castle Group, Miller Legg, Jet Blue, Enterprise, Crowe Horwath, Hollywood Women’s Club, Junior League of Greater Fort Lauderdale, Hands Hope Humanity, JAE Enterprises, Lynn University, Tijuana Flats and FAU Sigma Phi Epsilon!
