Miami Dolphins’ Running Back and BGC Alumni Gives Back
Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake knows what our organization is all about. Kenyan himself is a product of the Boys & Girls Clubs, growing up in Atlanta and attending the club as a youth. After graduating from University of Alabama on a football scholarship, Kenyan was drafted by the Miami Dolphins.
Kenyan’s commitment and passion for being his best follows him off the field. He has supported the BGCBC in various ways and has visited the club several times to hang out with club members and has helped out with our annual Channing Crowder Flag Football Camp. Kenyan has taken the Dr. Harold Reitman Club under his wing and has sponsored a couple of events for them such as a holiday party where he brought in Santa hats to decorate, had goodies to pass out to the members and provided lunch to the members courtesy of Miami Grill. Thank You Miami Grill!
In November he visited the Reitman Club to debut the cleats he wore in the December 3rd game against the Denver Broncos, which were auctioned off as part of the “My Cleats My Cause” campaign for the NFL in which Kenyan wore Boys & Girls Club themed cleats. The auction netted $1,150 from the sale of the cleats and Kenyan designated the proceeds raised from this auction to BGCBC.
Due to his generous time and commitment to the community and BGCBC, he was named NFLPA Community MVP. This is a high honor in the NFL and it came with a monetary donation of $10,000 to which Kenyan chose BGCBC receive the funds! We thank Kenyan for all his support and for giving back.
We look forward to seeing Kenyan around the club this spring and summer and can’t wait to see what he and the Dolphins have in store for the 2018 season.
