BGCBC MEMBERS INDUCTED INTO KEYSTONE CLUBS

On November 2, the Lester H. White Boys & Girls Club was host for the Annual Keystone Installation Ceremony. Eleven Clubs came together to install this years' new officers.  The theme of this years' ceremony was Flashback to the 90's, with Ezekiel Shaw as the Master of Ceremonies, who is a Club Alumni and former Youth of the Year for LHW.  The Keynote speaker was Mr. Jude Charles, who is a brand strategist and filmmaker.  Like our staff does for our Club Members, it was a high school teacher who saw promise and talent in Mr. Charles and encouraged him to follow his dreams, which lead him to launch his own video production company at the age of 17 years old.

Dinner was catered by Father & Sons Smoke Til-U-Choke BarBQ and longtime partner Buffalo Wild Wings in Deerfield Beach. The event was very entertaining as the members dressed up as their favorite TV characters and musicians and danced to great music from that era.

The majority of the Keystone Members in attendance are returning teen members that are true examples of leadership.  In order to be involved in the Keystone Program, Club Members must be able to align themselves with the core areas of Keystone Club which are;   Academic Success, Community Service, Career Preparation and Teen Outreach. Serving as a Keystone Member becomes important and beneficial to Club Members when preparing for other leadership roles at school, college and their future careers.   The positions that our teens accept as leaders in the Keystone Club, signifies their dedication to attend regularly scheduled meetings, trainings and community events, showcasing their acquired skills and commitment to being leaders and role models.  All Keystone Members are required to serve their clubs, their communities and their peers when appropriate.

Special thanks goes out to the Lester H. White Unit Ron Lewis - Club Director, Nicole Melendez – Program Manager (Host) and Cameron Warrick – Social Recreation Coordinator, Ms. D'Vetria Cunningham - Membership Clerk whom greeted everyone upon arrival and the part-time staff and members that assisted with the decorations.  Special guests of the night were Di Maharaj - Chief of Club Operations and Ms. Marsha Williams - Program Coordinator of Club Operations, who help support our wonderful staff and the Keystone Program at all clubs.  Thank you!
