BGCBC Teens Host #WEOWNFRIDAY in Partnership with The Hartford
Teen members “owned the night” on Friday, November 16th, as multiple events were held at two of the clubs. Team Members from our south clubs gathered at the Lester H. White Club as they were host for the #WEOWNFRIDAY, A Movie on the Lawn event. The Movie on the Lawn event was held outside on their field, to allow the members to watch a movie as if they were at a Drive In movie theatre. Teens were encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, and snacks to simulate a real Drive In movie experience. Members were given snow cones and popcorn and had the opportunity to mix and mingle with teens from other clubs!
While the south clubs were watching a movie, teen members from our North clubs gathered at the Leo Goodwin Teen Center for a night filled with food, basketball and a motivational speaker. Emmy-nominated artist, singer and song writer Alexander Star, spoke to club members about his life experiences, learning how to be in the moment and making a positive impact on the world and the people around you. The club members got a special treat as Alexander helped them record some songs in the studio at the club. Members played basketball and participated in chili cheese dog classes provided by our Culinary Arts program. They finished the night up with a dance. We would like to thank our sponsors who helped make the night a fun event; The Hartford, Taco Bell, BurgerFi, Frankie’s pizza and Alexander Star.
#WEOWNFRIDAY is a national BGCA program that celebrates our teen members and promotes teen membership. The idea of this program is to bring teens across the county together as they participate in various fun filled events and they are encouraged to share these events with other organizations.
