Family Strengthening Program Serves 72 BGCBC Families
Family Strengthening Program (FSP) is an evidence-based nationally and internationally recognized parenting and family strengthening program for high-risk and general population families. The Program is funded by the Children’s Services Council of Broward County (CSC).
For the 2017-2018 Program Year, seventy-two (72) families and ninety-four (94) members, ages 6-11, from six (6) Clubs participated in the family skills training program, FSP, in order to positively impact the domains of positive parenting, family attachment, parental substance use, understanding risk and protective factors to avoid substance use, improving child behavior, and improving overall family functioning. FSP staff consisted of two (2) Program Supervisors and eight (8) Group Leaders. Eighty percent (80%) are Certified Teachers from Broward County School Board. Fortunately for our families, this Program has a high staff retention rate since eighty percent (80%) returned.
