KENYAN DRAKE THANKSGIVING CELEBRATION

On November 11, members of BGCBC had a lot to be thankful for.  Miami Dolphins Running Back Kenyan Drake partnered with Publix and served a hearty Thanksgiving meal to 50 members of the Boys & Girls Club of Broward County at Hard Rock Stadium.  The children were treated to turkey, ham, mash potatoes, gravy, macaroni & cheese and much more.  Kenyan took time to answer questions, take pictures and reminisce on his time as a club member at the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta and how it impacted and shaped his life.   After dinner, club members were treated to pictures with the Dolphin Cheerleaders and an exclusive tour of Hard Rock Stadium.

The giving didn’t stop there.  Kenyan and Publix had an even bigger treat in mind as no child was sent home empty handed.  Each family received a prepackaged Thanksgiving dinner provided by Publix, as well as a Miami Dolphins goody bag.  This once in a lifetime experience will be a special memory for a long time, not only for our club members, but for Kenyan as well.  His post on Instagram the following day is a true testament of the impact the event had on him:

“Football has given me everything in my life. I love the hustle, my teammates, and the fans of the game. I have made memories on the field that will last a lifetime but what I want to be remembered for is how I impact people off the field. Giving back to others like this game has given to me is my greatest joy. “

Football may come and go for Kenyan, but in those 50 members’ hearts, Kenyan will always have a special place.  BGCBC is grateful for the relationship it has with Kenyan Drake, the Miami Dolphins and Publix.
