The Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County provides numerous programs that help Club Members learn about different career fields, gain valuable skills and experience team work.
The following programs are housed in different Clubs throughout the County:

The Ionosphere/Aviation Club
The Ionosphere/Aviation program teaches Club Members at the Nan Knox Unit ages 10+ about aviation principles and a career in aviation.
Boat Building
The Boat Building program teaches Club Members at the Nan Knox Unit about how to construct a boat and gives the Club Members the opportunity to enter the Plywood Regatta, a competition in which teams from all over the county build sea-worthy vessels with the supplied tools and wood.
Generals Club Construction
The Generals Club Construction Program exposes teen Club Members to a career in the construction trades. Club Members attend monthly showcases that highlight careers in crane operation, plumbing, roofing, general constructing, etc.
Club Members also participate in the Annual Generals Construction Career Day. During the event, 22 construction representatives lead hands-on activities with teen Club Members. Featured trades include painting, flooring, steel construction, welding, and more!
Construction companies offer interested teens and alumni internships and full-time jobs in construction. Currently, 16 teens and alumni have experience in the following trades: electrical, air conditioning, general contracting, plumbing and crane operation.

Culinary Arts
The Club Members at the Leo Goodwin Teen Center attend monthly workshops to learn how to prepare nutritious meals. The Club Members also have the opportunity to earn SafeStaff Certifications - authorizing that they know how to handle food safely and can properly sanitize the area.

Recording Studio/ Multimedia Production
Teen Club Members at the Leo Goodwin Teen Center, Lester H. White and Dr. Harold Reitman club learn how to create beats, raps, songs, commercials and other videos. In this program, Club Members learn how to work soundboards, video cameras, and other studio equipment.
