The Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County teams up with The American Red Cross and the Centennial Campaign program (redcross.org/centennialswim) to help significantly reduce the cost of Lifeguarding and Water Safety Instructor training to qualified club members, which opens the door to many job opportunities and even more youth, will be able to gain the life skill of swimming.

In 2009, along with the help of KidsHealth.org and Michael Phelps Swimming, we developed our signature program, im, named for Michael’s signature event the Individual Medley. im is a water-safety, wellness, and goal-setting program for Boys & Girls Clubs of America members and Special Olympics International athletes.
Youth age’s 11-14 may also participate in Junior Lifeguarding program which will help put them on the pathway to becoming future lifeguards. Families of children participating in swim lessons will have the opportunity to learn about water safety and get trained in pediatric CPR/AED at no cost.
